Cascadia Music’s annual holiday concert opened to a standing room only audience on Tuesday evening. Cascadia Chorale had the largest number of performers in the history of Cascadia Music (over 60 singers) and choir participants’ ages spanned 60 years, according to Director Dana Stromberger.
Pipestone Youth Orchestra, directed by Pam Hunt, opened the evening’s performance with four movements of Concerto Grosso No. 8, Christmas Concerto, by Arcangelo Corelli.
Long time Pipestone Orchestra Director Terry Hunt led the instrumental portion of the program.
The concert included works by John Rutter, Joseph M. Martin, Jacques Brel, George Frideric Handel, in addition to Christmas classics like Good King Wenceslas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and a traditional spiritual, Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow.
Cascadia Music will perform one more night on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
