Methow Valley Citizens Council named Rebekah Phillips as its next executive director. She begins her role in April.

“After a long and thoughtful search process, MVCC is thrilled to welcome Rebekah Phillips as our next Executive Director. Rebekah brings 15 years’ experience guiding nonprofit organizations and is passionate about preserving the rural character and natural environment of the Methow and Okanogan valleys now and for future generations to enjoy,” said MVCC Board President Tom Jones.

Phillips was most recently executive director of the Mazamas, a rock climbing advocacy group based in Portland.

She also has extensive experience leading symphonies, having served as executive director of Portland Columbia Symphony and director of marketing, communications and sales at the Oregon Symphony.

Phillips was born in Ashland, Oregon and graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in music and bassoon performance.

I’m delighted to be joining MVCC as their next Executive Director and look forward to working alongside this incredible community to facilitate new opportunities for listening, learning, and leading the way toward healthy ecosystems, shared stewardship, and strong, engaged voices for Okanogan County.

I’ve spent my life immersed in the wondrous landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, and can’t wait to meet the staff, volunteers, and community members who are working hard to protect this region’s unique character and natural environment, and building sustainability and resilience in the Methow Valley and beyond.

Phillips succeeds Jasmine Minbashian, MVCC’s executive director since 2018, who officially stepped down in September. MVCC staff member Mary Yglesia served as interim director.
