My name is John Duresky, and I’m running for Washington State’s 4th Congressional District and Okanagan County. Over the next 10 months, I will be coming out to talk to you – all of you — so I can earn your trust. I believe you deserve someone who will fight for you, and not sit quietly while tariffs raise prices on our food and clothes, big companies raise prices on gas, medicine, and transportation. I want to speak up for you to repair relations with our Allies and trading partners, bring back funding for medical research, and our roads and bridges, and education assistance.

I am a 24-year combat veteran, and then a government project controller at the Hanford Field Office of the U.S. Department of Energy. I have devoted my entire 37-year career to upholding the United States Constitution. The Federal government needs to be pared down, but not at the expense of our hard earned rights protected by the Constitution. We should control our borders, but not by violating basic human rights protected by the Constitution. Cities can use help with law enforcement, but not by sending National Guard without mayors’ and governors’ request, a power defended in the Constitution.

Our primary is in August 2026. In the next several months, I want to give you hope that I will speak up for you, the laws of our land, and your entitlement to a government that looks out for your health, safety, education, jobs, and human rights.

Dan Newhouse, my opponent, had the moral fortitude to vote for President Trump’s impeachment, but since then, he has voted like a MAGA representative. His votes have hurt his own constituents, and he and his fellow Republicans have stood by as Mr. Trump has taken our government apart. Mr. Newhouse’s answer to rising prices is more tax cuts for the wealthy in the Big Beautiful Bill. He and his fellow Republicans are doing nothing to protest the trade wars. He blames Democrats for the government shutdown. But Republicans want to end healthcare subsidies – that’s why Democrats won’t sign their bill.

As a civil servant, I know how many services and how much money the Federal government has given us. They have been stopped. The quality of our drinking water and breathable air is now at risk, the safety of our food is now unprotected, the wait for Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security assistance will get longer. Mortgage guarantee loans have slowed down, and emergency response is taking months now when hours and minutes are critical.

It is time to stop the destruction.

I want to continue to serve my country by speaking for you in Congress, defending your rights, and fighting for your livelihoods. On Day One, I will seek to end the tariffs — you do not need any more taxes. I will also fight to make healthcare affordable; we don’t need our premiums to double and triple. Immigration will be another top priority.  Grabbing and injuring people in the streets before checking citizenship is “guilty until proven innocent.” We are better than this. And I will passionately question the spending of American taxpayers’ money. Is bombing Venezuelan ships a cost-effective way to stop drugs for example? Does the White House really need another ballroom? Should we be paying for a president’s trip to Saudi Arabia so he can make deals to put millions in his family’s hands?

I swore an oath to the Constitution 37 years ago so that I could fight for my country. I deeply believe in that oath and the United States of America. I want the American Dream to mean something to our next generations. Vote for me in August  2026, and again in November 2026 so that I can be your advocate. Let me show you how loud my voice can be when I’m speaking for you.
