A 30-year levy that would renovate Three Rivers Hospital is failing to pass, according to initial election results. An almost even split- 50.27% for and 49.38% against, shows voters don’t have an appetite for another property tax. (The measure needs 60% to pass.)
Boo Schneider is ahead by 420 votes in the school board race, garnering 60.47% of the vote to challenger Hilary Kaltenbach’s 39.02%. Ten people, or .51% of the vote, chose a write-in.
Dana Stromberger, who has been on the school board since 2009 and has never had a challenger, was elected to another four year term.
Mike Pruett and Cherryl Thomas, also unchallenged, are returning as commissioners for Three Rivers Hospital. They will have work on their hands as they consider what’s next for the aging hospital.
Okanogan County Auditor will post the next tally of votes on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 pm.
Statewide, Senate Joint Resolution 8201, allowing funds collected from the long-term care fund to be invested in stocks, is passing with 56.78% of the vote.
