Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement regarding the swearing in of incoming Sheriff Jodie Barcus. Barcus assumes her role on Monday, April 6.
Barcus will serve as interim sheriff following Sheriff Paul Budrow’s resignation effective April 6. She will serve as interim sheriff pending elections in November. She is also running for sheriff in November.
Okanogan County welcomed Jodie Barcus as the in-coming sheriff during a swearing-in ceremony presided over by Superior Court Justice Kathryn I. Burke. Jodie Barcus moves from the Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy position to Sheriff effective Monday April 6th, 2026.
A large gathering of county elected officials, county employees, partner agencies and family members were present to observe the formal administration of the sheriff’s oath of office. Sheriff Barcus’ husband pinned on her uniform badge and outgoing Sheriff Paul Budrow pinned on her uniform collar stars.
Sheriff Barcus’ message to attendees expressed thanks to outgoing Sheriff Budrow and the attendees for their attendance and support. Sheriff Barcus expressed readiness to continue serving Okanogan County residents through existing professional relationships with partner agencies and delivering professional law enforcement services to Okanogan County.
