Dr. Grant Storey took the oath of office as the new MVSD superintendent at a school board meeting July 31.

Storey replaces Tom Venable, who announced his resignation in November and subsequently accepted a position as executive director of Methow Housing Trust. Venable served as MVSD superintendent for 12 years.

Storey was selected in February following a nationwide search by a headhunter specializing in recruitment of education executives. He assumed his role July 1.

Storey thanked the board for the opportunity to serve the school district.

“The superintendency is a profound responsibility and a tremendous chance to work with the entire Methow Valley School District team to shape the future for our students, support staff at every level and strengthen our entire community,” he said.
