Allocation of millions of dollars and another possible school levy proposal must first pass a task force of six district representatives and 22 community members.

The advisory group will serve a 15- month term chartered with “identifying facility needs, prioritizing capital investments, and ensuring future improvements align with student safety, educational priorities, and community values,” according to a press release on Friday.

The group will present their recommendations to the school board in May 2027.

School board president Dana Stromberger and her husband Barry are on the task force. Larry Surface and his daughter-in-law Tiffany, a fourth grade teacher at MVE, are also on the task force.

The process will be guided by two consultants from Consertus: former school district superintendents Wade Smith and Gene Sementi.

The group will participate in a “walk and talk” tour this month to review buildings, recent improvements, and potential needed investments. The first official meeting will take place in April, where the task force will review its charge, elect leaders and plan their process.

There will be opportunities to gather feedback from the community through surveys, focus groups, and conversations, according to the press release.
