Update: The Merc has notified MVE that there is a block of 30 seats that will be released at 6:30 on Thursday (Dec. 18) at the door for admission-by-donation night. For the other remaining performances, at least 12 seats are reserved each night for walk-up patrons and available for purchase at the door beginning 30 minutes before the performance.
If you haven’t seen The Merc Playhouse’s production of The Little Prince, chances are you won’t.

Have you considered how this review could make an eight year old feel when they put their whole little self into performing on stage, in nearly every scene, memorizing a book, as you acknowledge? If this is a “for locals by locals” publication, please think of the impact your words have.
I’m assuming your child isn’t going online to read MVE. Even if she did, she’s in the title role, which is why she was reviewed. This is a pretty mild review. If your child wants to be an actor, she’s going to be reviewed all the time.
A lot of kids can access content online or hear about it from others who can.
Is it really worth it, Julia? She’s 8.
For what it’s worth, everyone I talked to about the play thinks it’s remarkable that she could memorize as many lines as she did and perform at the level she did for her age. “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly.” Maybe you should have seen it a second time from the lens of your heart, instead of your “examiner” intellect. A shame. It’s over now. “Ephemeral”: “in danger of speedy disappearance.”❤️
I give her credit for memorizing the lines.
