After four years at the helm, Sarah Brown is stepping down as Executive Director of Twispworks.

“After four very full years at the helm of TwispWorks, I am moving on to my next venture. Many of you know me as an unrelenting optimist and I am fully confident that even in this changing world and climate, TwispWorks will continue to be a gathering place, amplifying the incredible work of our creative rural economy throughout the Methow Valley,” Brown said in a statement.

Brown took the helm of Twispworks mid-COVID. She oversaw the construction of an automotive shop on campus for vocational training, raised $1 million for Methow Investment Network to support local businesses and nonprofits (the network has raised $4 million since inception), and made the free Fourth Friday concert series a staple during the summer months.

“Sarah has guided the organization through a period of growth, connection, and resilience,” Board President Jo Wallace said in the announcement. “During Sarah’s tenure, TwispWorks has become a more vibrant community hub and vital resource for the valley’s creative rural economy. Campus is now home to almost 100 local jobs, and we appreciate the thriving partnerships with local and regional organizations including Methow Valley School District and the Town of Twisp.”

Brown said more information from the board will be coming about their search for a new director.

“Our focus remains on sustaining and strengthening the programs, partnerships, and community impact that make TwispWorks a lively and essential part of the Methow Valley. We are proud of the strong foundation that TwispWorks stands upon, and the organization has lots of exciting news to share with you in the coming months.”

There will be a celebration of Brown’s tenure at Twispworks at a date to be determined.
