It might be an off year election, but several offices will be on the ballot this year.

Three council members in Twisp and Winthrop will be on the ballot, as well as two school board seats.

In Twisp, council positions 1, 2, and 3 will be up for election. Those positions are currently held by Katrina Auburn, Aaron Studen and Wyatt Lundquist, respectively. These are four-year terms with Lundquist serving a two-year unexpired term.

In Winthrop, council positions 1, 2, and 5, as well as the mayor’s position will be up for election. Those positions are currently held by Sophia Boesenberg, Joseph O’Driscoll, Bill McAdow, and Sally Ranzau, respectively. These are also four-year terms with McAdow serving a two-year unexpired term.

Two school board seats will be on the ballot- an at large position held by Boo Schneider and a District 2 position held by Dana Stromberger. Candidates for the District 2 position must live within the designated District 2 area (see below for a description), while any registered voter in MVSD can run for the at-large position.

Stromberger, who was first elected to office in 2009, has never had a challenger.

Public Hospital Commissioner District 1 for Position 3 is up for election for a 6-year term. That position is held by Michael Pruett.

Fire District 6 Commissioner will also be up for election. That seat is held by Chair Darold Brandenburg. This is a six-year term.

Cemetery District 1, position 2 is up for election. That seat is held by Timothy Anderson.

The deadline to file for candidacy is May 9 at 5 pm, whether in person or online.

A special three day filing period for non-partisan offices without a candidate will accept submissions June 11-13 from 8 am to 5 pm each day at the Okanogan County Auditor’s Office.

All candidates must be registered voters in the geographic area represented by the office and no one can file for more than one office, unless one of the offices is precinct committee officer.
