This morning, I greeted the day early at the Hot Air Balloon Round Up in Winthrop. It’s an annual event on the first weekend of March, which this year coincided with another revolution around the sun for me. The weather at 7 am was cold, but the sight of the balloons flying into the air was worth the early rise. It was my first time at the event, and I was pleased to learn that this event will be on or near my birthday. It’s like the people that get firecrackers for their birthdays. I get hot air balloons.
Afterward, I took my tween daughter to the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Winthrop Barn. They ran out of eggs. We thought the line would get shorter and we would get back in, but it never did. A steady stream of people came in from the cold to eat and support a good cause. I forgot to take pictures of the event because I am a writer. I have to remember that every article needs an image. I should just fall into the habit of taking a picture first.
After a nice meal, my daughter and I walked around Pearrygin Lake. The sun shone so brightly, I think we got a little sunburn on our faces. We walk around the lake each season. As we walked past the admission booth, I saw a worrisome sign. I didn’t know that a forest pass was no longer sufficient to park at Pearrygin. Now, you need a Sno-Park Pass in the winter. I am glad I didn’t get a ticket. That would have stunk.
We stopped by Hank’s and Cinnamon Twisp for a pastry. My daughter avoids sweets. She wouldn’t eat a cake, not even a cupcake. She opted for a cookie and I for a cupcake. My daughter made tofu vegetable soup and we had dessert afterward.
I worked on MVE for a bit while she finished her math homework. Then we watched a movie she had been wanting to see for a while- The Wild Robot. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s a beautifulful film and it’s on Amazon Prime. After the film, my daughter went to sleep while I put the Picture Book together for tomorrow. It was a beautiful day.
I ran into people I knew almost everywhere I went today. I think life plays tricks on us sometimes just to mess with us.
Here are some pictures from the Hot Air Balloon Round Up and Pearrygin Lake. It was a beautiful day.
