Christmas tree sales moved from Hank’s (er, Rosauer’s) to the Do-It Center this year, but that hasn’t slowed sales. About 50 trees remain from 345. Sales went much faster this year and John Doran, volunteer head of sales for the past 15 years, says the new location is much safer for cars and pedestrians because there isn’t the sharp turn of the previous location.
Tree sales benefit the Methow Valley Community Center, which was the old Twisp High School. Doran, class of 1970 and Larry Smith, volunteer head of operations and class of 1969, went to Twisp High School. Smith began the operation as a fundraiser when he was on the board of MVCC many moons ago.
Smith began preparing for the fundraiser this summer and needed to secure a location. Due to miscommunication as a result of interim managers at Rosauer’s, there was a missed opportunity to have it in the same location. The Do-It Center location was available and Smith secured the spot. No hard feelings, though. Smith says he is open to considering both locations next year.
