The Community Foundation of North Central Washington (NCW), which manages the annual campaign, announced that donations to 44 local nonprofits totaled $929,372 this year, a new record.

Top recipients include Methow Conservancy, Methow Housing Trust, Room One, Jamie’s Place, Little Star School and Cove Food Bank.

While individuals could give directly to the nonprofit of their choice, multiple matching gifts increased donations to the Give to All Fund to $172,274.09. These funds are distributed equally among Give Methow participants. This year, all participating nonprofits received an additional $3,915.32. Donors to the fund included Methow Valley Fund, Partners in Giving, a $40,000 anonymous donation, and a $10,000 match from the Community Foundation of NCW.

Give Methow runs annually Oct. 1-31. It started in 2015 to increase awareness of local nonprofits and as a means to manage donations at any level starting at $10. The Foundation covers credit card fees not paid by donors so that the full amount goes directly to nonprofits.

Old Schoolhouse Brewery and Casia Lodge & Ranch participated in the fundraiser by offering customers the option of rounding up their purchases to support the campaign.

“What Give Methow demonstrates more than anything else is that our little valley holds a thriving ecosystem of nonprofits with a deep river of generosity running down the middle of it. It’s uplifting to see our community come together like this,” Sara Joy Steele, Give Methow Committee Chair, said in a press release.
