Editor’s note: Apathy and disinformation are the greatest threats to our democracy. One of the most transparent means of relaying information is Q&As. I wanted to include the full transcripts of the candidate’s forum at the Twisp Valley Grange on July 22, but the Grange has posted video of each segment online. In lieu of spending several hours transcribing or fixing AI’s transcription, I am posting the links below. I hope you will find the questions and answers informative.
The forum was organized and the questions curated by the Twisp Valley Grange. Peter Morgan read the questions to the candidates. As of now there are 20 views for PUD Commissioner and 17 views each for District 7 Positions 1 and 2 on the Twisp Valley Grange’s YouTube site. In addition to the 50-some in-person attendees, I know more than 17 people in this community want to know about these candidates. Let’s show the Grange some love and glean information in the process.
Washington House Legislative District 7, Position 1
Candidates: Andrew Engell, Soo Ing-Moody, Teagan Levine
Washington House Legislative District 7, Position 2
Hunter Abell, Pat Bell, Rocky Dean, Ron McCoy
Bill Colyar, Lauren McCloy, Bud Stevie (Tony Hawley did not attend.)
Sound was muffled and difficult to understand for me. So I ended up using the Voter’s Pamphlet to make my voting decisions. Surprised Tony Hawley didn’t show–often times the candidate will have a stand in show if they have prior commitments. No shows make a negative statement to the voters.
