Okanogan County Commissioners signed a burn restriction that goes into effect June 15 at 12:01 am and ends October 15 at 12:01 am. The restriction prohibits open burning of vegetation. Recreational fires used for cooking, warmth, or pleasure are allowed unless the county implements a burn ban due to an elevated fire risk. Agricultural burn permits may be obtained from the county for pest control.

The restriction applies to all areas of the county EXCEPT within city limits, silvicultural burning regulated solely by DNR’s outdoor burning rules, DNR recreation sites and campgrounds, U.S. Forest Service lands and the Colville Reservation. The DNR, U.S. Forest Service, and Colville Tribes may have their own laws in effect. The Forest Service implements Stage 1 and Stage 2 fire restrictions which can be found here.

Fireworks are illegal in unincorporated areas of Okanogan County.
