The weather is warmer but not heating up yet. What to do this weekend? Besides the obvious (we are a recreation hub, after all), here is a roundup of events in the valley this weekend.

Friday, May 24

Fourth Fridays at Twispworks 6 pm-10 pm

Tonight marks the start of the 4th Friday @ Twispworks summer concert series at Twispworks Pavilion. Music by The Family Dog with local guitar master Terry Hunt, Sarah Studen on vocals and Wayne Mendro on winds playing “funky sing-alongs, sultry songs, and jazzy jams.” 

Saturday, May 25

World Famous Mazama Community Club Pancake Breakfast 8 am-11:30 am

The Mazama Community Club is hosting its annual World Famous Pancake Breakfast- all you can eat pancakes, ham, fruit, juice, coffee or tea- $10, kids 6 and under eat free. Build an appetite with a free Family Fun Run at 9 a.m. (Kids run first.) Other attractions include a Fire District 6 fire engine, Methow Trails Pistenbully, and information about community groups.

Methow Valley Farmers Market, next to MVCC, 9-12 noon

A staple and community gem that runs every Saturday from April through October. Buy directly from farmers and local artisans. Strike up a conversation, walk around downtown Twisp.

Bluebird Field and Granary Tour, 19611 Hwy 20, 2pm- 4pm

Learn about Bluebird’s farm systems and how they process ancient wheats. Kids get to jump into emmer hulls! Sample ancient grains.

Methow Valley Rodeo Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26 at 1 pm

The 52nd Methow Valley Rodeo will take place on the rodeo grounds off Twin Lakes Road on Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, starting at 1 pm. This year will include a remembrance of Tom Graves, one of the founders of the Methow Valley Rodeo. In addition to regular rodeo activities and a visit from Rodeo Queen Izzabel Cruz from Tonasket, the New Renegade Cowgirls drill team from Lynden and Tough Enough Equestrian Drill Team from Colville will show their mastery. Weather expected to be a cool mid to high sixties. The next rodeo in the valley will be on Labor Day weekend. $15 adults, $5 for kids 7-12 years, free for 6 and under.

Sunday, May 26

Methow Valley Rodeo 1 pm (Day 2)

Methow Conservancy Open House, 414 Riverside Ave in Winthrop, 2pm-4 pm
